WINGATE (CNS)-- Arthur Evans, 79, died at 12:30 p. m. Thursday (Nov. 26, 1953) at the Maplewood Nursing Home west of Aylesworth, Ill., where he had been a patient five years. Mr. Evans was born Sept. 27, 1874, two miles north of Wingate, son of William and Mary Meharry Evans. He was a life resident and farmer of this area. He married Altah DeVore, June 24, 1904 at Shawnee Mound Methodist Church. She died in 1945. Mr. Evans attended Purdue University and was a member of Mercer Lodge 633 F&AM of Wingate and was an honorary member of New Richmond Masonic Lodge. Surviving are several cousins. The body is at the Grenard and Servies Funeral Home where friends may call. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home in Waynetown. The Rev. H. L. McBride will officiate and burial will be in Wheeler Grove Cemetery, 4 1/2 miles north of Wingate. - kbz

WINGATE -- Arthur Evans, 79, a retired farmer, died at 12:30 p. m. Thursday at the Maplewood Nursing Home, west of Alsworth. He had been in failing health for the last five years. Born Sept. 27, 1874, two miles north of Wingate, he was the son of William and Mary Meharry Evans. On Jan. 24, 1904, he married Altah Devore, who preceded him in death in 1945. He was a member of Mercer Lodge 633 of the Masonic Lodge at Wingate and an honorary member of the New Richmond Masonic Lodge. There are no immediate survivors. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Grenard and Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. H. L. McBride, pastor of the Wingate Methodist Church, will be the officiating minister. Burial will be in Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
